Posted by: Reed on January 7th, 2008AFTER ASHLEY - December 11th
Posted by: Reed on November 7th, 2007I am very pleased to announce that I will be playing the role of “David” in a scene from AFTER ASHLEY by Gina Gionfriddo.
Shani Murfin will be directing. This is a project for her directing class taught by Wendy McClellan.
I will post more about the time when I get that information. But it will be down on the Lower East Side.
The Abrons Art Center at 466 Grand Street (Off the Essex or Grand stop from the B, D, F, or V lines). It’s not as far away as you may think…
The great thing for me is that this role is usually played by a man in his 50’s, so I am completely cast against type. This is going to put a fun spin on the story. The scene is from Act 2 between Justin, Alden, Julie and myself (David).
Please RSVP to Reed@ReedPrescott.com if you’d like to attend.
Here is Wendy’s bio:
WENDY MC CLELLAN has spent the last ten years working as a director and staff member in the American regional theatre, with a majority of her career spent in the development of new American plays. She was also the Artistic Director of Oasis Theatre Company, the first company to bring Anne Bogart and the SITI Company to LA. She is currently a freelance director based in New York City. Her directing credits include: Washington, D.C.: world premieres of Jennifer Maisel’s Birds (Rorschach Theatre) and Laurie Brooks’ Brave No World (The Kennedy Center). New Music
Posted by: Reed on October 26th, 2007Monday, the cast of Seth Bisen-Hirsh’s WHY AM IN NOT FAMOUS YET? went into the recording studio to bang out a few tracks. I will soon have tracks to add to my DEMO page. But in the meantime, please check out
http://www.sethbh.com/news3.html
It was a fun day in the studio. The big obstacle was that Seth was in a different room where we could not see each other. But because we have rehearsed and done the show, things flowed pretty smoothly.
The Prince is Giving a Ball !!!
Posted by: Reed on October 11th, 2007I’ll be doing a condensed version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA next week for a local Children’s Hospital. And I won’t be playing the Prince. I’ll be playing the King. (My theory is because when we were all little kids anyone over 12 seemed to be a grown-up. And while I’m still young enough to play the Prince in the real world, kids don’t give a rat’s ass who’s playing who. They’ve got enough imagination to pretend ANYTHING is possible. And, well, I am a few years past 12….)
The show will be directed by my friend Tara Smith (producer of XANADU and book writer of the musical PIECE). Tara and I have the same mentor, so I am excited to be working together for the first time. The show is produced by Shifting Ground Productions.
Also, my mom will be in town next week, so I’m hoping that she can tag along too, since her visits and my shows never seem to coincide
Look Out, September! Here I Come!!!
Posted by: Reed on August 30th, 2007Well, I must be making up for the lost time while I was recovering from back surgery; because come September I am going to be happily swamped with work.
First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who came out to The New York Theatre Barn’s IN THE D-LOUNGE event. The evening went off so well, I have been asked to join NYTB as an Event Co-Ordinator. The next fundraising IN THE D-LOUNGE event will be Monday September 17th. We are finalizing the line-up for the evening this week. Please check www.nytheatrebarn.org for specific updates for those events.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I will also be singing at legendary DON’T TELL MAMA on Thursday September 27th (8:30pm), Saturday September 29th (3pm), and Sunday September 30 (8:30pm). Songwriter Seth Bisen-Hersh has asked me to join him and his talented cast of Cait Doyle, Julie Goldin and Rori Nogee for his (appropriately titled) show WHY AM I NOT FAMOUS YET? -Original Songs of Bitter Frustration. Please join us. I believe there is a $10 cover and a 2 drink minimum.
DON’T TELL MAMA is located at 343 W. 46th Street. Reservations: 212.757.0788
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Now, let’s not forget all the upcoming FESTIVALS. It’s Festivalmania for me. First off, I will be part of the International CRINGE Festival - The Bad Play Festival. I will be playing “Joey” in a play called RED NOVEMBER, CHARLIE DECEMBER. But I promise you, it’s not a bad play. It’s actually quite interesting. But I will be the oldest 15 year old out there!!! R.N.C.D. is part of the Brown Bag Lunch series at the Players Theatre. Wednesdays Septebmber 19 and 26 at noon.
The Players Theatre is located at 115 MacDougal Street. For Reservations: 212.242.6036 or Theatermania.com
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And finally, I am extremely excited to announce that I will again be part of the NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL (www.nymf.org). I will be playing the role of “Benjamin” in the Holocaust musical WARSAW. WARSAW is part of the Developmental Series and will be performed twice on October 4 at 1pm and 5pm at the Theatre at St. Clements. Music is by William Wade. Book and Lyrics by John Atkins. The reading will be directed by Jamibeth Margolis.
NYMF is near and dear to my heart, as my very first NY job was in the inaugural year (2004) with FRANKENSTEIN…DO YOU DREAM? And last year, I was part of the sold-out, extended hit OEDIPUS FOR KIDS! - playing the title role. Please come out and support WARSAW!!!
The Music of Hilliard and Boresi - Benefit for NYTB
Posted by: Reed on August 7th, 2007On Monday August 27, I’ll be singing the music of Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi at the D-Lounge.
It’s another benefit for New York’s newest, baddest (in a good way), up-and-coming theatre company: The New York Theatre Barn (www.nyTheatreBarn.org)
Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi are experts in the comic opera genre. Their show, DON IMBROGLIO played to sold out audiences in NYMF 2005. Come hear some songs from their upcoming NYMF show GOIN DOWN SWINGIN’ as Peter and Matt stray from their normal genre into the world of musical theatre (still inspired by Mozart’s Don Giovanni). Peter and Matt have transformed Mozart’s music into 1950’s swing, jazz, blues, and rock. Song selections include:
Let’s Have a Swingin’ Party
Been Done Wrong
He Thrills Me
Howzabout Comin’ to the Window
and Why Don’t We Hold Hands?
Also added to the mix is a very funny Jason Robert Brown spoof called “Look At Me Suffering,” and perhaps one or two more to spice things up a bit.
I will be joined by the very talented Jillian Louis, with Peter Hilliard at the piano (and harmonizing a bit), and perhaps one or two more singers, TBD.
Word on the street is that we may be joined by a few other NYMF shows…
MONDAY AUGUST 27
8PM
D-LOUNGE (in the Daryl Roth Theatre)
101 E. 15th Street (at Union Square)
$10 cover (goes to NYTB) plus 1 drink minimum
There will be a different set at 10pm. Come for all of it, for just $10.

All the Web’s a Stage
Posted by: Reed on July 23rd, 2007Welcome.
Well, here it is. The latest update to my website, beautifully designed by Mr. Rich Najuch (see the link at the bottom of my homepage to contact him. He’s brilliant and very affordable!! Plus, he and his partner, the very talented director Joel Froomkin, have left New York to open their own theatre and theatre company. I can’t think of a better reason to support these guys.)
I am very happy to have this feature added. It’s a way that I can stay connected to those of you who visit my site - both of you!!! (LOL). It will also allow me to keep readers current with my going-ons.
For those who do not know, I have had a slow summer because I have been recovering from emergency spine surgery on May 8. The good news is I am healing very well. My surgeon has just given me the go-ahead to proceed as usual, and with the help of my physical therapist that should not be too far away.
I don’t want to type too much here, as this is just the first post. And with my luck with any object that needs batteries or a plug, this will just be a trial posting and it will somehow mysteriously disappear the moment I think I’m clicking the correct button.
So, please stay tuned for more blog updates. And thanks for visiting my site.
